Keeping Your HVAC System Free and Clear

After our heater stopped working altogether last winter, we realized that it might be time to consult with a professional. We called a family friend who is also an HVAC contractor and he came out right away to see what he could do. After taking a look at things, he told us that our vents were almost completely blocked with dust and dirt. He recommended a vent cleaning company to come out and help, and they removed loads of debris the next day with specialized suction tools. After that, our HVAC system ran almost perfectly. This blog is all about the importance of keeping your HVAC system free, clear, and functional.

4 Signs Your Ductless AC Unit Needs A Repair

A ductless AC uses multiple distributing units to cool your home. As such, when you mount an internal AC unit in every room, each person can enjoy their desired temperature level. Despite this great advantage, your mini-split system will accumulate wear and tear over time. When this happens, you may have a diminished cooling output that disrupts indoor comfort.

More so, should you neglect this system malfunction, it can escalate and cause a breakdown. In this case, you will have no choice but to invest in a replacement. Thus, you must engage an AC repair technician to examine your unit and remedy the underlying issue. Below are signs your ductless system needs repair.

A Drop in Cooling Output

If you are no longer getting the cool air you need, the ductless AC could be due for repair. This may result from the line set deteriorating and leaking the refrigerant. In such a case, the low refrigerant level lowers heat absorption, reducing cooling power.

Also, if your thermostat has the wrong calibration, it may lead to improper temperature adjustment. As a result, your cooling unit will achieve the wrong temperature. Finally, you may have a defective fan motor that cannot spin the blades. This leads to weak airflow, causing uneven temperature distribution.

Your Electric Bills Are Skyrocketing

The ductless system could be the culprit when you notice a steady increase in cooling costs while maintaining normal usage. This could be due to the air filters clogging up and restricting airflow. Consequently, the cooling system will rend to overwork to draw sufficient air for cooling, and this leads to consuming more energy.

In addition, if dust accumulates on the fan, it may impede its rotation. This may lead to the system working much harder to circulate the air around the room. You should also know that a refrigerant leak will strain the compressor to pump enough refrigerant through the AC unit hence using more energy.

Strange Noises Coming from Your Unit

If any noise from your system is disruptive or repetitive, your AC needs repair. This is because ductless units have sound-dampening features that allow quiet operations. Thus, when your AC makes weird noises during operation, it could indicate a malfunction.

For instance, grinding noises point to metal surfaces rubbing against each other due to a lack of lubrication. Moreover, you will hear a high-pitched noise indicating a refrigerant leak. If this is the case, you will need an AC technician to check the noise source and ensure proper lubrication.

The above are signs your ductless AC needs repair. In most cases, this system will operate efficiently when well-serviced. Thus, you should schedule regular maintenance checks with an AC repair technician to ensure all components are working as they should.
